Colson Kelly, also known by the name Machine Gun Kelly, has a unique style of rapping. Baker was born in Houston in Texas on 22 April, 1990 into a German and English Scottish family. As a child Baker spent a large period of his time on the road along with his parents who were missionaries. James Colson Baker suffered from depression, and was unemployed as Sonia Alane abandoned them at the age of nine. Baker was moved to Denver with his dad and stayed for a time. Other kids in the area bullied Baker for being poor. In sixth grade, he began listening to rap. Colson Kelly Baker was born 22 April, 1990 in Texas, United States. He is best known for his hip-hop infused rock and his modern alternative. Baker has released four mixtapes in the years between 2007-2010 prior to signing with Bad Boy Records. With lyrics that were faster than a bullet train the Cleveland rapper saw a rapid rise to fame in 2011. He went from releasing self-released tapes before signing with labels. It was after that, with each of his releases making it to the top 10 charts.
