Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel, and jazz into his signature style. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway through The Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta her birthplace was Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church, where she sang and was a pianist. She attended Spellman College and began to study the R&B styles of Atlanta. The voice of hers was featured in the music video for The Fighting Temptations. She took on the role of primary keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director for the theatrical production of Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine received national attention during her four daily performances during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing during President Obama's 2008 inauguration.
